e-KYC Error Halts Ladki Bahin Payments
The Maharashtra government was doing a digital check-up called e-KYC for a scheme that gives money to women.
But there was a mistake in one of the questions, which made 24 lakh women say they were government workers when they weren't.
Because of this, their money was stopped.
Now, the government is asking workers to check these women in person to fix the mistake.
A wrongly framed question in the e-KYC process misclassified 24 lakh beneficiaries as government employees.
The error led to a halt in monthly payments for these beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme.
The Women and Child Welfare department has ordered physical verification by Anganwadi workers to rectify the issue.
The e-KYC drive was initiated to ensure that recipients meet the eligibility criteria for the scheme.
Around 2.30 crore beneficiaries were part of the digital verification drive.
