ED Interrogates Madan Mitra in Bengal Job Scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent a notice to Madan Mitra, a rebel Trinamool Congress legislator, to appear for interrogation.
This is related to a big case about unfair job appointments in municipalities during the previous Trinamool government led by Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier, the ED had also asked Mitra's wife and sons to appear for questioning.
The ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are looking into this case, which involves a lot of money and illegal activities.
They have found properties worth over Rs 100 crore owned by a middleman named Ayan Shil, who is involved in both the job scam and a school job scam.
The CBI has already filed a chargesheet against former minister Sujit Bose and others in this case.
The ED issued an interrogation notice to Madan Mitra in the municipalities’ job irregularities case.
Mitra's wife and sons were also asked to appear for interrogation earlier.
The ED and CBI are investigating financial irregularities and money laundering during the previous Trinamool regime.
Raids were conducted at Mitra's residences and other locations in June.
