Rema Challenges CPI(M) to Admit Chandrasekharan Murder Mistake
K K Rema is a politician from the Revolutionary Marxist Party.
Her husband, T P Chandrasekharan, once belonged to the CPI(M).
He left the party and started the Revolutionary Marxist Party after disagreements.
In May 2012, he was attacked and killed in Kozhikode district while riding home.
Rema says the killing was connected to political disagreements with CPI(M) leaders.
She wants the party to admit that the killing was a very serious mistake.
Several people, including local CPI(M) leaders, were later convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in the conspiracy.
Rema made her statement while the CPI(M) was meeting to discuss its political and organisational mistakes.
She later won a Kerala Assembly seat from Vadakara with support from the United Democratic Front.
RMP leader and Vadakara MLA K K Rema asked whether the CPI(M) has the political honesty to acknowledge T P Chandrasekharan’s murder as an “unrectifiable mistake.”
Chandrasekharan, a former CPI(M) leader, left the party over ideological differences and formed the Revolutionary Marxist Party.
He was hacked to death in Kozhikode district in May 2012 while returning home on a motorcycle.
Rema alleged that CPI(M) leaders conspired against Chandrasekharan because he opposed the party leadership and supported V S Achuthanandan and M N Vijayan.
Her remarks came during the CPI(M)’s three-day extended state committee meeting in Kozhikode, convened to review election losses and political and organisational errors.
