Trump's Lawsuits Against Press Threaten Freedom of Speech

Imagine the First Amendment protects the press so they can report on the government.

In 1964, a court case, New York Times v.

Sullivan, said public figures can't easily sue the press if they make a mistake.

They have to prove the press knew what they printed was wrong.

Now, Donald Trump is suing news outlets, hoping to change this rule to make it easier to sue and silence the press, possibly hindering their ability to report on government actions.
