Asha Sharma Takes Xbox Helm Amid Declining Revenue and Change

Asha Sharma is the new leader of Microsoft’s Xbox business.

She does not have a traditional videogame background.

Xbox makes about $23 billion each year, but its revenue has been falling.

The division has around 14,000 workers and a three-percent profit margin.

Its Game Pass subscription service also did not reach earlier expectations.

Sharma plans to change spending, strategy and staffing to improve the business.

She sometimes works directly on player support tickets to hear what users think.

Her leadership motto is “Clarity is kindness,” meaning she believes people should clearly discuss problems as well as successes.

Before returning to Microsoft, she held senior positions at Meta, Instacart and other technology companies.
