MIL and AVNL Awarded Miniratna Status After Operation Sindoor
Two defense companies in India, Munitions India Limited (MIL) and Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), have been given a special status called 'Miniratna'.
This means the government recognizes them as important and well-performing companies.
MIL makes ammunition and AVNL makes tanks and military vehicles.
They were created from older factories in 2021 to make them more efficient and self-sufficient.
During a recent operation, some employees' leaves were cancelled to ensure production.
MIL also recently received large export orders.
MIL and AVNL, formed from ordnance factories, have been granted Miniratna status.
MIL is involved in the production of ammunition, including 155 mm shells.
AVNL manufactures battle tanks and military vehicles.
Employee leaves were canceled at some MIL factories during Operation Sindoor.
The ordnance factories were corporatized in 2021 to improve efficiency.
