Columbia University Pays $221M in Deal Over Antisemitism

Columbia University is giving the government over $220 million to get back funding that was stopped because of worries about antisemitism, or discrimination against Jewish people, on campus.

This comes after the government, led by the Trump administration, said Columbia wasn't doing enough to stop it.

The school will pay money and also change some rules, like looking at its Middle East classes and asking international students why they want to study in the U.S. This agreement is part of a larger effort to make sure universities are dealing with antisemitism and other issues, with Columbia being one of the first schools affected.
