Godrej Consumer Products Reports Q2 Revenue Growth Amidst GST Disruptions
Godrej Consumer Products, which makes things like soaps and home care items, had a slow sales increase in the last three months.
They said this was because of temporary problems caused by the government changing its tax system, called GST.
This change made it a bit harder for shops to sell their products.
Even though sales went up a little, their profit actually went down because some costs increased and they had some legal expenses.
They also bought a men's grooming brand called Muuchstac.
The company expects things to get better in the next few months as the tax changes settle down and sales return to normal.
They are still gaining market share in some areas despite these challenges.
Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) reported a 4% year-on-year rise in consolidated revenue to ₹3825 crore for Q2 FY'26.
Underlying volume growth for the quarter was 3%, with revenue growth described as low single digit.
Net profit decreased by 6.5% to ₹459 crore due to reduced other income, increased expenses, and one-off litigation costs.
The company attributed short-term demand disruptions to the transition to the new GST regime, particularly impacting Soaps and Hair colour categories.
GCPL announced the acquisition of men's grooming brand 'Muuchstac' for ₹449 crore and expects performance to strengthen in the second half of FY'26.
