Agri Dept to Distribute Alternative Seeds
The agriculture department is going to give farmers special seeds to help them grow crops even when there isn't enough rain.
This is because of something called the El Nino effect, which makes it harder for plants to grow.
The department will give out seeds for red gram and pulses in different places called rythu vedikas.
Farmers who have already planted crops on 11,600 acres hope these new seeds will help them.
The government wants to make sure farmers have what they need to keep growing food.
The agriculture department will distribute alternative seeds starting July 27.
Seed melas will be conducted in rythu vedikas on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
14 out of 25 mandals in Kamareddy district reported deficit rainfall.
Seeds of red gram and pulses will be distributed to help farmers overcome drought conditions.
Around 5000 farmers have already cultivated ID crops in 11,600 acres in Kamareddy district.
