Kargil Vijay Diwas: India's Security Doctrine Transformation

On July 26, India celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas, marking the 27th anniversary of Operation Vijay in 1999.

During this operation, the Indian Armed Forces successfully evicted Pakistani infiltrators from the strategic heights of Kargil.

This victory not only secured the border but also significantly changed India's security policies and national consciousness.

The operation highlighted gaps in intelligence and coordination, leading to the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

India also improved its border security and shifted to a proactive retaliation policy against terrorism.

The war was the first to be televised, boosting national solidarity and respect for the armed forces.

Today, India's defense production and exports have grown significantly, and it is seen as a responsible nuclear power.
