Uttam Kumar Reddy warns defaulting rice millers
The Civil Supplies Minister, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, had a meeting to talk about rice buying for the next season.
He said that rice mills that don't follow the rules won't get any rice to process.
He also made a new rulebook to make sure everything is fair.
The government is going to help rice mills grow and sell more rice outside the country.
They are also going to add more things to the ration shops.
The minister said the government is helping farmers by putting machines to dry and clean rice so it doesn't get wet or damaged.
He promised that farmers will get a good price for their rice without any problems.
Rice millers not following government rules will be barred from paddy allocations.
A new manual, 'Guidelines for Legal Enforcement in Civil Supplies Cases', was released to enforce regulations strictly.
The government plans to announce new policies to promote the milling industry and boost exports.
The range of essential commodities supplied through the Public Distribution System (PDS) will be expanded.
Infrastructure upgrades, such as dryers and paddy cleaners, are being installed at procurement centres to protect the harvest.
