Police Probe Video of Woman Assaulting Domestic Help in Gurgaon
On July 24, someone recorded a video inside a kitchen of a very fancy apartment building in Gurugram, India.
The video showed an older woman dragging, punching, and pulling the hair of a younger woman.
That younger woman was a domestic helper, someone who works in another person's home.
The video was shared on social media and in WhatsApp groups, and soon the police began an inquiry.
Police said the older woman, Ruchira Sachdeva, hit the helper after they argued about work.
The helper left her job a few days later, on July 27.
She told authorities she did not want any legal action and asked people to stop sharing the video, because she did not want her face to appear anywhere.
The police are still investigating, and Sachdeva has been released on bail while the case continues.
