Opposition to Raise Bhagirathpura Water Deaths in Madhya Pradesh Assembly

People in Bhagirathpura, Indore, became sick after drinking contaminated water.

Thirty-six people died in connection with the incident.

A judicial committee investigated what happened.

Lawyers say the committee linked 24 deaths directly to contaminated water, but the causes of 12 deaths are still unclear.

The committee reportedly recommended money for families of people who died or became seriously ill.

Its full report has not officially been released.

Opposition leader Umang Singhar wants the report made public and plans to discuss the issue in the state Assembly.

He says both officials and elected representatives should be held responsible if they are found guilty.
