NCW Investigates Hubballi Police Disrobing Incident

NCW Investigates Hubballi Police Disrobing Incident

The National Commission for Women (NCW) is looking into a video where a BJP worker, Sujatha Handi, was allegedly stripped by police in Hubballi, Karnataka.

The NCW has asked the police for a detailed report and has directed them to register a case and conduct a fair investigation.

The BJP, including former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai, has accused the police of misconduct and demanded a judicial inquiry and the transfer of the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner.

They allege that the police tried to cover up the incident and acted under political pressure.

The Karnataka government and police, however, deny these allegations, stating that the woman disrobed herself.

The government plans to hand over the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough investigation.

The BJP has also met with the NCW to urge action against the police officials and Congress leaders involved.
