Why HBO’s New Harry Potter Series Could Win Purists
HBO is making a new Harry Potter television series.
Its trailer shows familiar places, characters and magical moments from the original story.
It also shows ordinary school life, such as timetables and pillow fights.
Fans like the new visuals but are comparing everything with the old movies.
Many people still strongly associate Harry, Hermione and Snape with the original actors.
The new young actors have a difficult job because the characters are already very famous.
Supporters think the series can tell more of the story because it has more time.
They hope it will feel both familiar and new.
The trailer revisits familiar moments, including the Sorting Ceremony and Hogwarts Express, with updated visuals and effects.
The series may expand on Hogwarts life and character stories that the films had to shorten or omit.
Fans remain strongly attached to performances by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Alan Rickman.
The new young cast faces comparisons with the original actors but is described as earnest and increasingly familiar.
Supporters argue the series has potential because its longer format can explore overlooked friendships, rivalries and relationships.
