BMC Proposes ₹4.16-Crore Project for Grant Road Skywalk Escalators
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed a ₹4.16 crore project to replace the defunct escalators at the Grant Road Skywalk in Mumbai.
The escalators, which have been out of order for nearly three years, connect the skywalk to the Grant Road railway station.
The project includes installing new escalators, repairing damaged handrails and railings, and constructing protective overhead sheds.
The contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder, M/s Callisto Global Pvt Ltd, and includes a one-year warranty and two years of comprehensive maintenance.
This initiative aims to restore convenience for commuters, especially senior citizens, schoolchildren, and persons with disabilities, and to prevent weather-related damage to the new escalators.
