Russia Adapts Missiles, Evading Ukraine's Patriot Defenses
Russia is changing its missiles to make it harder for Ukraine to shoot them down.
They're modifying the Iskander-M and Kinzhal missiles to swerve or dive suddenly, confusing the Patriot systems that try to stop them.
Before the changes, the Patriots stopped many missiles, but now they're hitting fewer.
This is partly because of the new tricks the missiles are using, and because Ukraine is waiting for more interceptors.
This makes it tougher for Ukraine to protect its important places and could cause problems this winter.
Russia has upgraded Iskander-M and Kinzhal missiles to evade Patriot air defenses.
Modified missiles perform evasive maneuvers during their terminal phase.
Interception rates for Patriot systems declined significantly from August to September.
These upgrades have damaged military targets and infrastructure.
Delays in US interceptor supplies are contributing to the issue.
