Kapil Dev Appeals for Humane Treatment of Imran Khan
Kapil Dev wants Imran Khan to receive proper care while he is in prison.
Imran Khan is a famous former Pakistani cricketer and former prime minister.
Kapil said prisoners should receive basic facilities and humane treatment.
He said he was asking for good medical care, not special treatment or a change to Pakistan’s laws.
Other former cricket captains also wrote to Pakistan’s prime minister about Khan’s health.
Reports say Khan has suffered a serious problem with vision in one eye, although the articles describe this as an allegation or report.
Kapil said he does not blame Pakistani cricketers who have stayed quiet because they live in Pakistan.
He also said cricket authorities should stop players from crossing the line during heated arguments.
Kapil Dev urged Pakistan to provide jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan with basic facilities and the best available medical treatment.
Former international captains sent a second appeal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif within six months, though reports differ on whether 21 or 22 signed it.
The appeals followed concerns about Khan’s health, alleged medical negligence at Adiala Prison, and directives from Pakistan’s Supreme Court.
Kapil said he supports his former cricketing friend on humanitarian grounds, not as a challenge to Pakistan’s laws or Khan’s legal proceedings.
Kapil also commented on a Colombo altercation in which Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando were each fined 25% of their match fees.
