E. Coli Found in Bhopal Groundwater
In Bhopal, India, some water samples from the ground were tested and four of them had a special kind of bacteria called E. coli.
This was found in three places: Khanugaon, Adampur Cantonment, and Vajpayee Nagar.
The city officials stopped using water from these places and are fixing the pipes to make sure the water is safe.
They tested water from more than 1,500 places in the city, and only these four had problems.
The officials are also checking old pipes that might be causing the problem.
They are replacing some of these old pipes to make sure the water stays clean.
This is important because drinking dirty water can make people very sick.
E. Coli bacteria detected in groundwater samples from Khanugaon, Adampur Cantonment, and Vajpayee Nagar in Bhopal.
Four samples out of over 1,500 tested positive for contamination.
BMC has banned the use of groundwater in affected areas and is replacing or diverting water supply lines.
The contamination is linked to sewage or organic waste, posing health risks including severe stomach cramps and diarrhea.
BMC is replacing old pipelines and laying new ones under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme to prevent future contamination.
