Bajaj Group Completes Allianz Insurance Buyout
The Bajaj Group has bought a 23% stake in two of its insurance companies, Bajaj General Insurance and Bajaj Life Insurance, from a company called Allianz.
This purchase cost a lot of money and now the Bajaj Group owns almost all of these insurance companies.
They plan to use this to grow and offer new products.
Allianz, the company that sold the stake, will use the money to invest in new projects in India.
The Bajaj Group is very happy because they can now make big decisions for these insurance companies without needing to ask anyone else.
Allianz is also happy because they can use the money to start new businesses in India.
The insurance companies will keep their headquarters in Pune and will continue to serve millions of customers with a focus on technology and customer service.
Bajaj Group completed the acquisition of a 23% stake in Bajaj General Insurance and Bajaj Life Insurance from Allianz SE for ₹12,190 crore and ₹9,200 crore respectively.
The acquisition increases Bajaj Group's ownership to 97% in both insurance companies, with Bajaj Finserv gaining complete control at 75.01%.
The remaining 3% stake is expected to be transferred to Bajaj Finserv through a proposed buyback of shares, subject to approvals.
Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman & Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv, highlighted the strategic flexibility this acquisition provides for market access, new products, and growth.
