KPHB Logs 5× More Drunk-Driving Cases Than Kukatpally
During a weekend enforcement drive, the traffic police in Cyberabad found that KPHB had five times more drunk-driving cases than nearby Kukatpally.
KPHB reported 53 cases, while Kukatpally had only 10.
This difference is because KPHB has more places where people can drink alcohol, making it easier for people to drive after drinking.
The police also said that the checks are rotated, so the numbers can change each week.
In Hyderabad, 474 people were caught driving drunk, with most of them riding two-wheelers.
The police warned that driving drunk can lead to serious punishments, including up to 10 years in jail.
They also mentioned that people in rural areas and IT corridors have different levels of awareness about the dangers of drunk driving.
KPHB recorded 53 drunk-driving cases, five times more than Kukatpally's 10 cases during a weekend enforcement drive.
The difference is attributed to more liquor outlets and different drinking patterns in KPHB.
KPHB's heavy traffic delays the start of drunk-driving checks, affecting the number of cases reported.
In Hyderabad, 474 people were booked for drunk driving, with the majority being two-wheeler riders.
The police warned about severe penalties, including up to 10 years in jail, for causing fatal accidents while drunk.
