India Launches Initiative for District De-Addiction Centers
The Indian government is setting up new centers called District De-Addiction Centres (DDACs) in 291 areas lacking existing support.
These centers will offer treatment and rehabilitation for people with substance abuse problems.
The goal is to help those struggling with addiction and prevent substance use among children and adolescents.
The government is also doing a new survey to see how many people are using drugs.
NGOs and start-ups with experience in drug de-addiction treatment can apply by June 30th.
Each DDAC will have treatment and rehabilitation facilities.
The centers aim to address substance abuse and dependence.
The government is seeking proposals for District De-Addiction Centres (DDACs) in 291 "gap" districts.
The initiative is part of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction.
Eligible applicants are NGOs and start-ups with at least two years of experience in drug de-addiction.
