CBI Chargesheets IAS Officer, Firm in WB Jobs Scam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a final chargesheet in a court in Kolkata.
They accuse a government officer named Jyotishman Chatterjee and a private company called ABS Infozone of being involved in a scam.
The scam was about hiring people illegally for jobs in eight cities.
More than 600 people were hired this way.
The officer was working in the local government when this happened.
The company belongs to someone named Ayon Shil, who was already arrested in a similar scam.
The court order for this investigation came from a judge in the Calcutta High Court.
The state government tried to stop the investigation, but the higher court allowed it to continue.
Additionally, the Election Commission of India has identified over 24 lakh voters with suspicious links to parents and is proceeding with hearings.
The Trinamool Congress has criticized these actions, while the Election Commission continues its verification process.
The bar council elections in West Bengal have also been affected by the deletion of over 17,000 members from the voter list, leading to a legal challenge.
CBI filed final chargesheet against IAS officer Jyotishman Chatterjee and private firm ABS Infozone in municipal recruitment scam.
Over 600 people were allegedly illegally recruited in eight municipalities, including North Dum Dum and South Dum Dum.
Chatterjee was director at the directorate of local bodies during the scam and is currently secretary at Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners.
ABS Infozone owner Ayon Shil was previously arrested in a school jobs scam for tampering OMR sheets.
No politicians were named in the final chargesheet, despite raids on homes of TMC leaders, including state minister Sujit Bose.
