Shareholder Lock-Ins: ₹16,344 Crore Supply Due This Week

Some shares in companies cannot be sold for a set period after certain events.

This week, those limits are ending for shares in 15 companies.

Together, the shares becoming eligible to trade are worth ₹16,344 crore.

The biggest group is from CMPDI, a subsidiary of Coal India.

Its six-month restriction ends on October 6.

That will make 464 million shares available to trade, equal to 65% of the company’s shares.

At Thursday’s closing price, that group of shares was worth ₹9,512 crore.

CMPDI shares are below their post-listing high, but remain above their issue price.
