BJP MP Files Complaint Over E-Cigarette Use in Lok Sabha
A BJP MP named Anurag Thakur saw someone from the TMC party using an e-cigarette in the Parliament.
E-cigarettes are not allowed in India, and using them in Parliament is against the rules.
Thakur wrote a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament, asking for an investigation and punishment for the person who used the e-cigarette.
The Speaker said he would take action if someone complains in writing.
There was a little chaos in the Parliament after this, with MPs from different parties arguing.
The Speaker asked everyone to follow the rules.
E-cigarettes are banned in India, but some people still use them secretly.
Smoking is also not allowed in Parliament.
BJP leader Giriraj Singh said MPs should set a good example for the public.
The old smoking room in Parliament was closed in 2015, and this new issue shows how hard it is to enforce such rules in a big country like India.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur filed a written complaint against a TMC MP for allegedly using an e-cigarette in the Lok Sabha.
Thakur's complaint stated that the act was visible to several members and violated parliamentary decorum and laws.
He requested an inquiry and disciplinary action to uphold the dignity of the House.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had previously stated that action would be taken if a written complaint was lodged.
E-cigarettes are banned in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act of 2019.
