Rail Users Seek Train Route Changes on New Rail Section
A railway user group wants to change how some trains run.
They want trains that usually go from Karaikal to other cities to instead go through new tracks between Karaikal and Peralam.
This will make the routes shorter and easier.
They also want more trains, like a new one between Velankanni and Tambaram.
This is to help people, especially those visiting religious sites, travel more easily and quickly.
The Nagore Nagapattinam Rail Users’ Association requested the diversion of express trains.
The request concerns the newly cleared Karaikal-Peralam broadgauge electrified section.
They propose diverting the Karaikal-Tambaram, Karaikal-Bengaluru, and Karaikal-Mumbai LTT express trains.
The diversion would reroute the trains via Nagapattinam, Nagore, Karaikal, Thirunallar, and Peralam from Velankanni.
The association also requested a new inter-city express between Velankanni and Tambaram.
