Houthis Claim Missile Strike on Dutch-Flagged Ship in Gulf of Aden
Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a missile at a Dutch ship called the Minervagracht in the Gulf of Aden.
The Houthis stated that the ship violated a ban on entering ports in Israel.
Two crew members were injured.
The Netherlands plans to ask the European Union to put sanctions on the Houthis.
This attack is part of the Houthis' wider attacks, which they say are to support Palestinians amid the conflict in Gaza.
They have been attacking ships and Israel since November 2023.
Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for attacking the Dutch-flagged ship Minervagracht.
The attack occurred in the Gulf of Aden, with the last recorded attack prior being in August 2024.
The Houthis said the attack was due to the ship violating the entry ban to ports of occupied Palestine.
Two mariners were injured and forced to evacuate.
The Netherlands plans to pursue European Union sanctions against the Houthis.
