RBI Announces ₹7 Lakh Crore 30-Day VRRR Auction

RBI Announces ₹7 Lakh Crore 30-Day VRRR Auction

The Reserve Bank of India plans to temporarily take excess money from banks.

It will do this through an auction on September 7.

The total amount involved is ₹7 lakh crore.

The money will normally stay with the RBI for 30 days, until October 7.

Banks can ask to get all or part of their money back earlier.

They must make the request through the RBI’s E-Kuber portal.

If approved, the money and earned interest will be credited on the next working day.

The RBI is using this operation while it reviews liquidity conditions in the banking system.
