Nilgiris Police Urge Colleges to Strengthen Student Safety

Police officials in the Nilgiris met with college leaders to discuss keeping students safe.

They told colleges to stop drug use and drug selling on and around campuses.

College staff should report suspicious activity to the police.

Schools must also have working systems for handling complaints about gender safety.

They were reminded to prevent ragging through active monitoring.

Police said students should receive counselling when they show signs of serious distress.

Colleges were asked to make sure students follow helmet, licensing and speed rules.

They must also check that security cameras work at entrances, exits and other important areas.

The colleges and local police were encouraged to cooperate closely.
