Nanded Jail Undertrials Receive Farmer IDs to Protect Family Benefits

Some farmers are staying in jail while their cases are still being decided.

Officials held a camp at Nanded district prison to help them with farmer records.

They created farmer IDs for 42 people and updated e-KYC for 26 others.

These records may help their families apply for government farming benefits.

The benefits include support for farmers, crop insurance, loans and subsidies.

Officials said the effort is meant to help families keep farming and receive support while a main family earner is away.

The IDs were made through a government initiative called AgriStack.

Much of Nanded district has been declared affected by drought.
