Anil Antony Attacks Opposition Over Proposed FCRA Changes

India is debating possible changes to a law about money coming from other countries.

BJP leader Anil Antony says the Opposition stopped Parliament from discussing the changes.

He says Home Minister Amit Shah is willing to hold a debate.

Opposition critics, especially in Kerala, worry that stricter rules could affect minority groups and institutions.

Antony says the rules are needed to stop foreign interests from influencing India’s internal affairs.

The government also says tighter controls can improve transparency and prevent misuse of foreign money.

Antony pointed out that the law was first introduced in 1976 under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The law was later strengthened in 2010.
