Telangana Paddy Procurement Surpasses 60 LMT
Telangana has collected over 60 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy from farmers this season, which is more than last year's total.
The government is paying farmers for their paddy, including a bonus for growing special kinds of rice.
They plan to collect 80 LMT in total, but they don't have enough space to store all of it.
The state has asked the central government for help to build more storage places.
This is important because it helps farmers sell their rice and ensures there is enough rice for people to buy at fair prices.
Paddy procurement in Telangana has crossed 60 LMT, surpassing previous years' totals.
Rs 14,058 crore has been paid to farmers, including a Rs 926 crore bonus for fine rice varieties.
The state aims to procure 80 LMT of paddy, but current storage capacity is only 65 LMT.
Telangana has cultivated 148 LMT of paddy across 66.8 lakh acres this season.
The civil supplies minister has requested the central government to increase storage capacity by 15 LMT.
