How 'six seven' became a viral phrase in 2025
The phrase 'six seven' started as a dark reference in a song by Skrilla.
It became popular on TikTok, especially with NBA clips of LaMelo Ball.
People started using it as a fun, meaningless phrase.
It became so popular that it was even in shows like South Park and games like Fortnite.
But after brands and schools started using it, people got tired of it, and it lost its coolness.
Now, it's just another internet phrase that people say without really meaning anything by it.
The phrase 'six seven' originated from Skrilla's song 'Doot Doot' and was initially interpreted as a reference to Philadelphia's 67th Street or a police code.
It gained popularity on TikTok, especially with NBA clips of LaMelo Ball and a viral video of a child performing a hand motion.
The phrase evolved into a phatic expression, signaling belonging or absurdity without a fixed meaning.
Dictionary.com named '67' its Word of the Year, and it appeared in mainstream media like South Park and video games like Fortnite and Overwatch 2.
The phrase's popularity declined due to brand adoption and school bans, leading to its classification as 'brainrot.'
