CNews fined €200,000 by French regulator over immigration remarks
A French TV channel called CNews said some people on its shows were very mean to Muslims and immigrants.
The French regulator, Arcom, said this was not allowed and fined the channel €200,000.
The fine was for two shows that aired in 2025, one after a soccer win and one about a Belgian politician wearing a head covering.
CNews said it would ask a court to change the decision.
Arcom had already told CNews to follow rules about showing different opinions, and CNews wants to fight that too.
Arcom fined CNews €200,000 for hateful remarks about Muslims and immigrants.
The fine followed two 2025 segments: one after PSG’s Champions League win, another about a Belgian representative’s head covering.
A CNews panelist described immigrants as violent and anti‑French, citing the “Great Replacement” theory.
CNews, part of Vincent Bolloré’s media empire, said it would appeal the decision.
Arcom had earlier ordered CNews to comply with pluralism and diversity rules in June.
