Andaman Approves Luxury Eco-Resorts for Sustainable Tourism
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are getting new luxury eco-friendly resorts.
Three big hotel companies won the rights to build these resorts on Long Island, Aves Island, and Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island).
Another company will fix up an old resort called Megapode.
These resorts will be super fancy but also good for the environment.
They will use solar power and follow special rules to protect nature.
Aves Island, which is empty right now, will get its first resort.
The resorts will have places to shop, dive, fish, hike, and relax.
The government will get money from these resorts for many years.
The goal is to make the Andaman Islands a top place for tourists who love nature.
Three hospitality groups won bids to build luxury eco-resorts at Long Island, Aves Island, and Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island).
Megapode Resort will be redeveloped under a public-private partnership model.
Resorts will follow international sustainability standards like LEED, GRIHA, and Green Globe.
Aves Island, previously uninhabited, will get its first five-star eco-tourism resort.
Concession periods range from 50 to 75 years, with revenue sharing agreements in place.
