Gujarat Faces Red Alerts, 1,500 Evacuated Amid Heavy Rain
Heavy rain fell across Gujarat, especially in Surat, where the rain was so strong that the government put the area on a red alert.
About 1,500 people were moved to safer places because their homes were flooded.
Rescue teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and the Indian Army were ready to help.
Schools in many districts were closed for safety.
The weather forecast said the rain would keep coming into early August, so people were warned to stay alert.
Red alerts issued for 13 districts, orange alerts for 7 districts in Gujarat due to extremely heavy rainfall.
Over 1,500 residents evacuated from low‑lying areas in Surat, the worst‑hit district, with 247 mm of rain recorded in Umarpada taluka.
National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and Indian Army teams on standby for rescue operations.
