Punjab AAP Government Seeks Rs 1,246 Crore Power Dues
The current AAP government in Punjab is asking the rural development and panchayats department to pay Rs 1,246 crore in outstanding power bills.
This money is for water supply schemes that were supposed to have their bills waived by the previous government led by Charanjit Singh Channi.
The AAP government is facing financial difficulties and has not yet paid this amount.
The power company, PSPCL, says this unpaid bill is causing problems for them.
The previous government had promised to clear these dues and reduce water supply bills for villages.
The AAP government is also providing free power to households, which costs a lot of money every year.
