Sikkim Opens Doklam, Cho La for Battlefield Tourism
India has opened two important mountain passes, Doklam and Cho La, near the border with China for tourists to visit.
These places are special because they were part of past conflicts between India and China.
The government wants people to learn about the bravery of Indian soldiers and to support the local communities.
Tourists can stay in local homes and visit these places for two days.
The government and the army are working together to make sure the visits are safe and enjoyable.
The Chief Minister of Sikkim said that this initiative will help the local people and make the border areas better.
They are also building new parking places for tourists.
Sikkim opened Doklam and Cho La passes for battlefield tourism under regulated conditions.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang flagged off 25 motorbikes and tourist vehicles for the initiative.
The passes are historically significant, with Doklam seeing a 2017 standoff and Cho La involved in 1967 skirmishes.
The initiative aims to boost local livelihoods, foster patriotism, and create awareness of the areas' historical importance.
Tourists can visit these areas on a two-day package with homestays and fixed vehicle rates.
