Hormuz Talks Postponed as Yemen Fighting Intensifies Near al-Makha

A meeting about keeping the Strait of Hormuz safe has been postponed.

Oman said the delay was in the interest of reaching agreement.

Iran said some regional countries asked for the postponement and that Oman and Iran agreed to it.

At the same time, fighting has grown worse in Yemen.

Yemeni government forces are attacking Houthi positions in several areas.

Airstrikes have taken place near al-Makha, a port on the Red Sea.

The Houthis captured the port days earlier.

These events are making efforts to reduce tensions in the region more difficult.
