EPFO Leads India's Portfolio Management Services Growth
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, or EPFO, is the biggest client of India’s portfolio management services.
In June 2026, the whole industry had about 43.3 lakh crore rupees in assets, and the part that EPFO uses is about 36.7 lakh crore.
EPFO mainly puts its money in safe things like government bonds and corporate loans, and it only puts up to 15% in stocks through special funds.
Most of the people who use these services are regular investors, not just rich ones.
The data shows that retirement funds like EPFO are the main reason the industry is growing.
EPFO is India’s largest portfolio management client, holding nearly 79% of domestic assets.
Discretionary PMS assets rose 1.8% month‑on‑month to ₹43.3 lakh crore in June 2026.
EPFO invests mainly in debt instruments, with equity capped at 15% via ETFs.
Domestic investors make up 91% of PMS clients, with 2.2 lakh accounts in June.
The discretionary segment accounts for ₹36.72 lakh crore of the total AUM.
