NTPC Boosts 2032 Installed Capacity Target to 149 GW Amid Rising Demand
Imagine India needs a lot more electricity for everyone in the future.
NTPC, a big electricity company, has decided to build more power plants.
They used to want to have enough power for 130 big cities by 2032, but now they want to have enough for 149 big cities by 2032.
They also want to have enough for 244 big cities by 2037.
This is because people in India are using more electricity than before, and they will use even more as the country grows.
NTPC is already a huge helper, providing about a quarter of all the electricity India uses.
They also do coal mining and are now the third-biggest coal miner in the country, even though they only started doing it a few years ago.
NTPC has increased its installed generation capacity target to 149 GW by 2032 and 244 GW by 2037.
The company's current installed capacity stands at 84,849 MW.
India's per capita electricity demand is projected to rise from 1,500 Kwh to 4,680 Kwh by 2047.
NTPC currently meets approximately one-fourth of India's total electricity demand.
NTPC has become the third-largest coal mining company in India within 10 years of entering the sector.
