Bengaluru Elite Clubs Face Food Safety Inspections Over Hygiene Lapses

Food safety officers are checking kitchens at 10 well-known clubs in Bengaluru.

They want to make sure food is handled, stored and labelled safely.

Inspectors reportedly found cockroaches at Bowring Club.

At KSCA Club, workers’ hygiene, drainage and food storage were found to have problems.

Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was reportedly not stored separately.

Some food packages were missing details such as dates, batch numbers and prices.

The area for washing utensils at KSCA Club was also unhygienic, and hot water was unavailable.

Mahalakshmi Layout Club received an official notice about hygiene concerns.

The inspections are continuing, and Minister UT Khader is expected to discuss them on Wednesday.
