Nellore Officials Accused of Scam in Apartment Mortgage Releases
Imagine some apartments in Nellore were built, and the builders got a loan using the apartments as collateral.
The government has rules to make sure the apartments are safe before people live there, like giving an Occupancy Certificate (OC).
However, officials allegedly let the builders get rid of the loan on the apartments without the OC, breaking the rules.
This happened with many buildings, and residents moved in without the necessary approvals.
A social worker complained, and now there's an investigation.
The authorities plan to penalize the wrongdoers, including officials and builders, and the High Court will review the case.
Officials in Nellore are suspected of releasing mortgage deeds without Occupancy Certificates.
The alleged violations came to light via a Public Interest Litigation (PIL).
71 buildings were constructed with deviations from approved plans.
Residents have already moved into apartments without Occupancy Certificates.
Authorities plan to take action against involved parties, including penalties and license cancellations.
