Snapchat Launches Plans Feature to Organize Private Friend Gatherings
Snapchat has created a new tool called Snapchat Plans.
It helps friends organize events without leaving the app.
People can invite friends and see who plans to attend.
Events can include up to 200 invited people.
The events are private and invite-only.
A My Plans section helps users remember their commitments.
Snap says the feature can help turn online conversations into real-life meet-ups.
It may also encourage people to spend more time using Snapchat.
Snapchat Plans lets users organize gatherings, send invitations and collect responses within the app.
Private, invite-only events can include up to 200 friends, with commitments tracked in a new My Plans section.
The feature is designed for meet-ups such as birthday parties and study sessions.
Snap is expanding beyond disappearing posts through products including Snapchat+ and Memories.
Snap will begin selling its first augmented-reality glasses, Specs, for $2,195 on September 16.
