Calcutta HC Orders Land Handover to BSF by March 31
The Calcutta High Court has told the West Bengal government to give land to the Border Security Force (BSF) by March 31, 2026.
This land is needed to build a fence along the border with Bangladesh.
The BJP says the West Bengal government has been delaying this, but the government says the BJP isn't doing enough in areas where land has already been given.
The court says the fence is important for India's safety.
The BJP is happy with the court's decision, but the TMC says the BJP should also explain why work hasn't started in some areas.
The Calcutta High Court ordered the West Bengal government to hand over land for border fencing to the BSF by March 31, 2026.
The BJP accuses the TMC of delaying the handover of land, obstructing border fencing work.
The PIL highlights security concerns along the 2,216.70 km Indo-Bangladesh Border in West Bengal.
The court noted that fencing the border is crucial for national security and sovereignty.
