Rahane Retires After 85 Tests, 100‑Test Milestone Missed
Ajinkya Rahane, a famous Indian cricketer, decided to stop playing for India on July 30, 2026.
He played 85 Test matches, 90 One‑Day games, and 20 T20 games.
He was a good captain and helped India win a big series in Australia in 2021.
His coach called him a "silent warrior" and said he should have played 100 Tests.
Rahane also scored over 5,000 runs in the Indian Premier League and was a great fielder.
He is sad but proud of his career and may stay in cricket in another role.
Ajinkya Rahane announced retirement on 30 July 2026 after 85 Tests, 90 ODIs, and 20 T20Is.
He captained India to a historic 2020‑21 Border‑Gavaskar series win in Australia, scoring a century at the MCG.
Coach Pravin Amre praised Rahane as a "silent warrior" who excelled in crisis situations and in SENA countries.
Despite a long career, Rahane never reached the 100‑Test milestone, a goal he and his coach felt he deserved.
Rahane amassed 5,367 IPL runs, over 5,000 Test runs, and took more than 100 catches in the slips.
