Shashank Kataria Marks Shift in Indian Equestrian
Shashank Singh Kataria is a young equestrian athlete from India who recently competed in the FEI Asian Championships in Pattaya.
He and his teammates won a record five medals for India, which is a big deal because equestrian sports in India have traditionally been dominated by the military.
Kataria is unique because he is a civilian and discovered the sport just a few years ago.
He rode a horse named Bullseye, who wasn't very experienced but showed a lot of potential.
Kataria believes that India is becoming stronger in equestrian sports and hopes to compete in the 2028 LA Olympics.
He thinks that with more international competitions in India, the sport will continue to grow.
India won a record five medals at the FEI Asian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
Shashank Singh Kataria, a 21-year-old civilian athlete, was part of the team and finished 6th in his championship debut.
Kataria's journey in equestrian sports is unconventional as he discovered the sport only a few years ago and had to convince his parents to support his passion.
He rides Bullseye, an ex-racehorse with limited experience, and their partnership has proven successful.
Kataria aims to qualify for the 2028 LA Olympics and believes India's equestrian sports are on the rise.
