Indian REITs Poised for Growth and Diversification
Imagine that some companies in India own buildings and other properties that people and companies rent out.
These companies are called REITs.
A new report says that this market is growing a lot, and there's a lot more room for growth.
The report also says that the existing REITs are mostly focused on offices, but there's a lot of potential in areas like warehouses and data centers.
The report points out the need for more real estate companies to enter the market, and that government policies must stay consistent to help it grow.
The report suggests that investors can find good income with the potential to gain even more.
India's REIT market is valued at approximately $18 billion as of August 2025, with potential to reach $25 billion by 2030.
Listed REITs currently represent only 20% of institutional real estate in India, compared to much higher percentages in countries like the US and Singapore.
The report indicates high growth in the industrial and logistics sectors, with a 60% YoY surge in leasing during H1 2025.
Data centers are emerging as a fast-growing area for REITs, with global market values expected to double in seven years.
The report highlights the need for policy consistency to ensure continued growth and to diversify into new asset classes.
