Panchayat Oath-Taking Ceremonies Marked by Victory and Clashes
In some villages in Karimnagar and Warangal districts, new leaders were sworn in for local governments called panchayats.
One special thing happened where a man who passed away before the election still won.
In another place, people fought over which party's music to play during the ceremony.
Also, in one village, two people were given certificates saying they won the same leader position, which caused a big argument.
Despite these issues, most people were happy to have new leaders to help with local problems.
Some people even put their sample ballots in a temple as a prayer, and both of them won their elections!
Newly elected sarpanches and ward members were sworn in across Karimnagar and Warangal districts, marking the start of a five-year term for rural local bodies.
A deceased candidate, Cherla Murali, won the sarpanch post in Chintal Thana, leading to a vacant seat and oath administered only to the deputy sarpanch and ward members.
Mallapur gram panchayat in Jagtial district got an elected body after a seven-year gap, with residents hoping for resolution of long-pending civic issues.
A clash broke out in Chennaraopet mandal of Warangal district during the swearing-in ceremony over which party’s songs should be played, requiring police intervention.
Two winning certificates were issued for the same sarpanch post in Damaravanch village, leading to tension and a recount that declared S. Sujatha the winner.
