Kerala Hypermarket Ordered to Pay Rs 60,000 After Family Falls Ill

A family in Kerala bought prepared food from a hypermarket to eat after fasting for Ramzan.

The food included beef liver pepper, beef roast and chicken 65.

About 30 minutes after eating, the daughter reportedly became sick.

She had stomach pain, nausea and loose motions.

Other family members reportedly had similar problems.

The family complained to a consumer commission.

The hypermarket denied selling contaminated food and questioned the family’s medical evidence.

The commission said the hypermarket had not shown that the food was safe and hygienic.

It ordered the hypermarket to pay Rs 60,000, including compensation and legal costs.
